  • In collaboration with Alexandria University, MEACO, MEAG'S, MEARV'S and the Tunisian Society of Ophthalmology, the 14th International course of Nadi Bassar was held in Gammarth-Tunis, during the period June 3-4, 2011. The Glaucoma symposium organized by MEAG'S during this event was a great success with around 200 attendees which was an achievement compared with the situation in Tunisia at that time. A special mention to Dr Ritch’ participation which was highly appreciated.

  • On 1-2 July 2011, MEAGS participated at the 2nd congress of Mauritanian Ophthalmological Society at Tfeila hotel in Nouakchott. There were a good attendance with many speakers from African countries: Algeria, Burkina Fasso, Guinee Konakry, Mauritania, Morocco, Mali, Niger, Senegal, Syria and Tunisia. It was a good opportunity to exchange opinions and create relationships with African colleagues.
  • In collaboration with our colleagues from Mali and neighbouring Francophone countries, MEAG'S had a presentation about MEACO and MEAGS with Dr Abdoulaye Diallo the General Director of the African Institute for tropical ophthalmology "IOTA". During this event, MEAGs jointly with Nadi El-Basar, have organized 2 weeks glaucoma course and hands on training for “Glaucoma theoretical in trabeculectomy”, September 2011.
  • 26 September – 6 October 2011 (Bamako, Mali) MEAGS had participated in the African Institute for Tropical ophthalmology (IOTA) and presented a session entitledGlaucoma challenges in Africa”. The session was highly recommended for repetition next year.
  • On 13- 14 October 2011 (Addis Ababa, Ethiopia), MEAGS had shared by a session in the Annual Meeting of the Ophthalmological Society of Eastern Africa (OSEA).
  • MEAGS had also joined the international conferences and organized Symposia at American Academy of Ophthalmology and the World Glaucoma Congress during 2011
